Sunswap

Project – Rapidly productionise a low carbon way to chill refrigerated road haulage trailers.

Solution – Replace diesel power with solar panels mounted on the trailer roof and mated to a battery back-up. Harnesses link the solar panels, refrigeration unit, batteries and control system.

Outcome – The electrical design evolved rapidly through prototype, pre-production and early production phases.  Parkinson were challenged to support the changing design against tight timescales and competing suppliers.

Outcome 2 – The customer continued to grow production and to rationalise their supply base, based on experience from early stages.  Parkinson’s Quality, Delivery Performance and Cost means they are an increasing proportion of Sunswap’s supply base.
